HEY! Goole

Supported by the Heritage Innovation Fund, we’re delighted to introduce our newest branch of the HEY! Volunteering family – say hello to HEY! Goole.

Launched in November 2025, in preparation for Goole’s bicentenary year, HEY! Goole is a bespoke volunteering programme that supports arts, culture, and heritage in Goole, whilst enjoying all the benefits of being part of the wider HEY! Volunteering initiative.

2026 marks two centuries since Goole was officially established as a port and “company town”, in July 1826. In celebration, a year long programme of events will shine a spotlight on Goole’s rich history – with exhibitions, community activities, arts projects, historical tours and much more. Now is the perfect moment to get involved as the town’s unique story takes centre stage.

Expect to see the same ‘scandalous’ blue uniform (with accents of bold burgundy!) spreading positivity across Goole at events such as Music in the Park, Goole’s annual bonfire night, Goole Civic Society’s Hobbies Exhibition, Goole Museum, and of course the many exciting 2026 bicentenary celebrations throughout 2026.

A bit about the Heritage Innovation Fund…

The Heritage Innovation Fund was introduced to build innovation capacity, allowing organisations to explore and test new ways of working to help tackle a heritage workforce challenge. Our focus is – you guessed it – volunteering. We want to explore how we can expand the benefits of HEY! Volunteering further across the East Yorkshire region, to help support heritage organisations and initiatives with trained and enthusiastic volunteers.

The Heritage Innovation Fund allows us to play a leading role in pioneering solutions to make the heritage workforce fit for the future. Click here to download our report which explores the opportunities and barriers to coastal heritage volunteering.
