Hull Maritime
Hull is Yorkshire’s maritime city, and there’s a real buzz as it continues to grow into a standout destination for heritage and culture.
The Hull Maritime project is breathing new life into six historic sites and two iconic ships, celebrating the city’s incredible seafaring past. One of the most anticipated moments is the reopening of the beautifully refurbished Maritime Museum, expected in summer 2026.
We’re proud to be working in partnership with Hull Maritime to offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities across their sites – including Spurn Lightship, the Arctic Corsair visitor centre and the renewed Maritime Museum.
If you’d like to volunteer with Hull Maritime, the first step is to join us as a HEY! Volunteer. This gives you access to all Maritime volunteering roles, along with the right training, support and updates to help you get the most out of your experience.
As a HEY! Volunteer, you can also receive specialist training from the Maritime Team, so you feel confident and ready to play your part. Volunteers get involved in all sorts of activities, from leading guided tours to helping conserve historic artefacts. Many are already supporting behind the scenes at the Maritime Museum and contributing to the design and planning of the Arctic Corsair and the new North End Shipyard Visitor Centre.
With more Maritime attractions opening later this year, there’ll be even more opportunities to get involved, learn new skills and make a real difference to this exciting city-wide project.
